Every venue has a personality, and Lansdowne Resort & Spa’s is “go big, take your time.” Couples don’t usually book Lansdowne for a single-day wedding — they book it for a weekend. A welcome party Friday, the ceremony and reception Saturday against a Blue Ridge Mountain backdrop, brunch Sunday before everyone heads home. From behind the booth, that changes how we approach the whole event.
It’s a Weekend Gig, Not a Day Gig
Because Lansdowne hosts full wedding weekends, DJ’s of Virginia is often on-site for more than just the reception — welcome parties and after-parties are part of the package for a lot of Lansdowne couples. That means we’re usually building a relationship with the wedding party well before the “big day” even starts, which makes the reception itself feel less like a first meeting and more like picking up where Friday night left off.
Sizing Sound to the Room
Lansdowne’s ballrooms range from intimate to genuinely grand — some couples are in a room built for 100 guests, others are in the resort’s largest space with 300+. That’s the kind of range where a one-size-fits-all sound system either underwhelms the big room or overwhelms the small one. We size our QSC systems (and 20-32 wireless uplighting fixtures) to the specific room, not the venue’s reputation.
Coordinating with the Resort
Golf courses, a full-service spa, multiple ballrooms — Lansdowne is a genuinely large property, which means load-in timing, power requirements, and timeline coordination with the resort’s own event team matter more than at a smaller venue. That’s a conversation DJ Dave has directly with Lansdowne’s coordinators well before the wedding date, not something worked out on the day.
What Couples Typically Book
Most Lansdowne weddings land on our Platinum ($2,499) or Diamond ($3,499) packages — both give you 6-7 hours of coverage and a dedicated ceremony/cocktail sound system for the outdoor mountain-view spaces, plus lighting add-ons like cold sparklers for a first dance or send-off that matches the scale of the venue.
